P5P - is the active form of vitamin B6 (also known as the coenzyme form). It contains three natural organic compounds - pyridoxal, pyridoxamine and pyridoxine. It is responsible for the growth and regeneration of muscles, the protection of neurotransmitters and affects energy metabolism. As a coenzyme, P5P is also involved in many chemical reactions in the body. It plays an important role in the metabolism of amino acids, biosynthesis of heme and neurotransmitters, in the formation of collagen and the action of glucocorticoids. It helps to balance sodium and potassium levels (nervous system), has a positive effect on the work of the heart and the musculoskeletal system. By itself and together with other enzymes, P5P helps the body build and break down amino acids as well as convert one amino acid to another. Moreover, it facilitates the release of energy stored in the liver and muscles and promotes the production of antibodies and red blood cells.
