TUDCA
is a hydrophilic bile salt, that is, it dissolves
very well in water. This compound occurs naturally in the body and has
a
choleretic, neuroprotective, immunomodulatory, hepatoprotective and
antiapoptotic effect, and also increases the sensitivity of cells to
insulin.
TUDCA
finds its application primarily in supporting the
treatment of hepatic and biliary disorders with cholestasis (including
primary
biliary cirrhosis, cholelithiasis), and also regenerates the liver -
reduces
the harmfulness of toxic substances and anabolic agents and accelerates
their
removal. TUDCA is also used to prevent gastrointestinal cancer.
